What we collect when you sell us a vehicle, why we need it, and what we do with it.

This policy explains how we handle personal information under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
When you request a quote or book a removal we collect your name, phone number, email address, the pickup address, and details about the vehicle (make, model, year, registration, condition).
At pickup we sight photo identification and proof of vehicle ownership so we can complete the NZTA change of ownership notification. We record the details required by law for vehicle dismantlers, including the registration plate, VIN and seller identity.
If you email us photographs of a vehicle, we keep those images only while assessing and processing the purchase.
To quote on your vehicle, arrange collection, pay you, and meet our legal obligations as a vehicle purchaser and dismantler in New Zealand.
To answer your enquiries and, where you have asked us to, follow up on a quote.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party marketing.
NZTA, for the required change of ownership and deregistration notifications.
Police or other authorities where we are legally required to disclose information, for example in a stolen vehicle enquiry.
Our bank, where you choose payment by transfer, and our accountant for tax records.
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Standard server logs may record your IP address, browser type and pages requested for security and performance purposes.
The contact page embeds a Google map. Loading that map means Google may receive your IP address and set its own cookies, under Google's privacy policy.
Records are stored securely in New Zealand and kept for the period required by tax and vehicle-dismantler record-keeping law, then destroyed.
You may ask what personal information we hold about you and request corrections at any time. Email info@carremoval.co.nz or call 0800 99 55 99 and we will respond within 20 working days.
If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version always appears on this page.
